Our journey began with a crucial realization: High school graduates venture into a challenging world without the guidance of trusted mentors and a robust professional network. Often, they are left to accept advice from unqualified sources. This is particularly true in underserved communities.
As our contemplation deepened, a series of probing questions emerged: How many students truly comprehend the nuances of investing their earnings? How many are equipped to determine the ideal portion of their paycheck for savings? How many would significantly benefit from active financial coaching as they venture into adulthood?
This sparked a transformative idea: Educating graduating students on the nuances of finance, investing, and retirement planning. Our chosen vehicle would be a monetary certificate of deposit, to mature over a 4-year term. A 4-year period emerged as a perfect interval for collaborative growth, backed by an enticing reward – accrued interest.
Then came a third revelation: What if mentorship and financial education could unite to serve high school graduates? And what if this venture was steered by a collective of accomplished professionals with a vested interest in the advancement of others?
Thus emerged The Dissinger Foundation and its mission: To disrupt the cycle of poverty through exceptional mentorship and targeted financial education.
